It's 2001...

...and Druidspear went through 3 or 4 incarnations. In the summer a decision was reached to formulate a band round me playing the songs on acoustic guitar - with no drums. The line-up survived for 3 rehearsals and 2 gigs. Fortunately 2 of these rehearsals were recorded. This is a chance to hear a fresh sounding couple of sets.

We comprised myself (vcl. gtr.), Andrew Bland (keys), Caelen Cross (el. gtr.), Nick Winnicot (bass) and John Curle (perc.).

The sessions are a snapshot of a band evolving material and contain the only versions of ‘Keeper of the Flame’, ‘Aphrodite Lightning’ and ‘Silver and Gold’.

You get to enjoy the intimate flavour of ‘High Horse Studios’ above Anew Music in Birmingham plus the odd stray comment.

Awake the bloom...

As I work on this website with the tireless Go Birch I realise how important these sessions are to me personally. Having taken the decision to awake the bloom, I see how this was where we left off (almost).

Pentacle no. 1 was recorded on 27.07.01.
Pentacle no. 2 was recorded on 02.08.01.
